Chamber Helps Coastside Kids Compete in the World Market!
The Mission of the Half Moon Bay Coastside
Chamber of Commerce and Visitors’ Bureau Education Committee
is to enhance the quality of education that students receive
at Coastside schools and to foster strong, mutually
beneficial relationships between educational and business
communities.
In addition to awarding four college scholarships
annually, this committee works with businesses in helping
with the Half Moon Bay High School Wish List, Back to
Basics, Career Day, the Rotary's "My Own Business", and
BizWorld (a three day workshop that sets fifth grade classes
up in a mock business).
Meets: First Tuesday of the month, 4:00pm,
Cabrillo Unified School District (CUSD) Office

Scholarship Descriptions:
Standard Scholarships:
Give two $500 scholarships – one to Half Moon Bay
High School and one to Pescadero High School graduating
seniors. Awardees decided by the school committees.
Merit Scholarship:
Give two scholarships to graduating seniors from
Half Moon Bay High School and/or Pescadero High School by
application. Awardees decided by the Education Committee.
Amount TBD annually. Pescadero High School and Half Moon Bay
High School will give the Chamber Education Committee not
more than 15 applications based on the following guidelines:
1.)
Scholastic achievement, include GPA improvement over last 3
years.
2.)
Financial need.
3.)
Community Service
4.)
Extracurricular activities and work experience
Returning Education Scholarship:
Give one scholarship for returning education per
year in August. Awarded individual decided by the Chamber
Education Committee. Amount TBD and to be reviewed annually.
For individuals seeking or going back to
school. Recipient awarded based on the following guidelines:
1.)
Individual that is employed, self employed, or in career
transition.
2.)
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent who has been in
the
workforce a minimum of 4
years since graduation.
3.)
Individual planning to enroll or is currently enrolled in an
accredited
institution of higher
learning.
4.)
Must show financial need.
5.)
Must present job resume, transcript, or current enrollment.
6.)
Submit a paragraph telling your future goals and plans.
7.)
Submit a paragraph telling why you deserve the scholarship.
8.)
Must be a Chamber member or work for a Chamber member.
