The Half Moon Bay Coastside offers a premier Ecotourism weekend event to give the nature traveler a unique eco-experience in one of northern California's most desirable location.

Choose from the following weekend options, or just come for the day to enjoy this unique opportunity.
 

ARRIVAL - Friday, March 30

Lodging options:

A) Costanoa Coastal Lodge

Discover the pace of nature and start off your eco-tour at Costanoa with a stay in one of their unique accommodations. (Located 22 miles south of Half Moon Bay.)

- Lodge Room w/ King bed & breakfast for two—$165/nt
- Douglas Fir Cabin w/ King bed—$150/nt
- Cypress Tent Bungalow w/ Queen bed—$110/nt

Cabin and Tent Bungalow do not include breakfast. These special rates are offered in conjunction with the Half Moon Bay Coastside Ecotourism Weekend. Rates are exclusive of taxes and are subject to availability.

 B) Green Oaks Creek Farm
 

Camp on a horse-powered organic farm nestled in a secluded valley above Ano Nuevo State Park.  The farm offers a beautiful area for your tent (a short walk from our parking area), a fully supplied kitchen in a strawbale structure, a hot shower and a toilet, a twenty-foot tepee to relax in, short hiking trails to ocean views and redwoods, and an extensive medicinal herb and flower garden. (Located 12 miles south of Pescadero.)

Saturday - March 31

Breakfast on your own

9:00am
Guided tour through Pescadero Marsh by Gary Deghi, Wildlife Biologist and Sequoia Audubon Society Board member. The marsh is home to 19% of all birds found in North America, 120 different species.

12:00noon
Guided tour through Harley Farms Goat Cheese Farm by owner Dee Harley. Tour the only goat dairy farm in San Mateo County.

3:00pm
Yerba Buena Nursery tour and high tea luncheon with owner Kathy Crane. Tour of one of the "world's Most Beautiful Native Plant Nurseries". You will tour the nursery and the extensive demonstration garden. The owner will acquaint you with some of the over 600 types of California Native Plants grown there while describing how using native plants in your garden benefits wildlife and is good for the environment. Following the tour, a lovely tea luncheon will be served in the century old farm house. Yerba Buena Nursery was founded in 1960 and is considered one of the foremost native plant nurseries in California. 

5:00-5:30pm
Tour of Thomas Fogarty Winery with winemaker Michael Martella. Guests will be welcomed with some of Thomas Fogarty's delicious Sparkling Wine. They will then tour the winery learning about the Santa Cruz Mountains Wine Appellation and its grape growing history.  After the tour,  guests will taste some of Thomas Fogarty's world class wines while enjoying an array of fruits, cheeses and hot appetizers. Guests should be on their way by 7:00pm.
 

Sunday - April 1

Breakfast on your own

Choose from one of the following morning activities:

A) 9:00am (departure)
Whale Watching with one of our popular local tour companies. (weather permitting) Whale Watching, Nature trips and eco tours off the San Mateo coast. See  Gray whales, Humpback whales, Sea Otters, many different kinds of Porpoises and fascinating Marine Birds of the San Mateo coast of California.

B) 9:00am
Daylight Farm Tour. Daylight Farms is a third generation family farm. Their grandfather and father grew old fashion field flowers to sell at the San Francisco Flower Market such as Stock, Marguerite Daisy, Minuet, Sweet William, Ranunculus, Anemone, Dahlia and more. By the mid-nineties they expanded Daylight Farms and Farmer John's Pumpkin Farm to their mix. In 2002 they also started Franchi Old World Italian Seeds, importing heirloom vegetable, flower, and herb seeds to sell to farmers, garden centers, and Italian markets.

C) 9:00am
A kayak tour of Pillar Point Harbor with Half Moon Bay Kayak Co. owner Doug Conner. This tour is designed for tourists and locals alike. After a brief kayak and safety orientation, launch your kayaks and glide across the tranquil waters of the Pillar Point Harbor amid the sea birds and harbor seals. Your guides will point out the unique sites and offer information on topics such as the local history, bird life, marine mammals, and the legendary Mavericks surf spot.

12:00noon
Catered lunch by the Half Moon Fisherman’s Assoc. right on the pier of a working harbor. Learn about the problems with the salmon shortage due to the Klamath River and other challenges presented to today’s fisherman.

Afternoon
We recommend a stroll down Historic Main Street, Half Moon Bay and a chance to visit the unique shops, especially Harbor Seal Company, a nature store.
