FARM TOURS & FARM STAYS
Coastside Agri -Tourism refers to activities conducted on
family-owned, smaller-scale farms, such as farm tours, farm stays, winery
tours and native plant nurseries, as well as farmers markets, road-side
stands and pick-your-own operations. These programs combine history with
modern farming techniques, often they are showcases of historic homes and
organic farming techniques, and all provide great food and a chance to
learn how farms provide us with food, fiber, open space, vistas, historic
resources and wildlife habitat.

You are in for a treat when you visit Farmer John and his wife, Eda. Her
desserts alone are to die for. Tour and dine on this second generation
farm nestled below the hills just behind historic Half Moon Bay, while you
learn from a most knowledgeable farmer. John has supplied flowers for and
helped with every Presidential Inauguration for the past thirty years. He also has
served on countless state and federal boards and bureaus.
You can tour their three acre Dahlia Farm (in bloom
from June-October), observe their pumpkins and squash from seedlings
(April) to harvest (October), as well as get in on some secrets for
growing Eda's Big Atlantic Giant Pumpkins for the Pumpkin Weigh-Off in
October. They offer year round produce and herb production as well.
Water and land issues are Farmer John's Specialties,
as well as rural life and government in general. Here you can have dinner
with a real family in their farm home, and ask all the questions you can
think of. We guarantee you will be entertained by this witty couple. And,
ask Eda if she will cook your very own freshly caught and cleaned salmon!!
